Tweedissimo 2006

TWEEDISSIMO

The collection is called ‘Tweedissimo’. The affix ‘-issimo’ is a comparative degree in Italian. For example, the word ’fortissimo’ is Italian for ‘stronger’ or ‘louder’.
In order to take tweed up a notch, I have been keen to enhance and exploit tweeds various possibilities in order to turn it into something completely different and unique. Tweed has been always considered ideal for casual sporting jackets and does not receive the attention that it deserves in menswear. Therefore I have aimed to change this view and make people as excited about tweed as they are about other men’s or women’s clothes.

The collection grasps a deep focus on tailoring and textile with attention to detail, mixing classic techniques with contemporary silhouettes. To texturize the fabric, they have become completely different from the original cloth, changing their physical attributes from distorting, washing, patching and hand-knitting the material.
